Natural Landscapes for Your Home - Tenaja
Style!
By Kristyne McDaniel
Steve and I bought a beautifully wooded parcel of
land in the Tenaja area of Southern California's Santa Rosa Plateau
at the end of 2000, and fell in love with it. The gnarled Englemann
Oaks, millions of volcanic rocks, seasonal streams and tenajas,
meadow grasses, and abundant wildlife are difficult to resist.
Even the rattlesnakes, tarantulas, and scorpions
have a purpose in this fragile ecosystem. Learning to work with the
land, to choose plants that work with the climate and soil types,
and avoid introducing invasive species takes effort and
planning.
While we research our requirements, we are
sharing the fruits of our investigations on this web site. Enjoy
our efforts, and let us know if you find any problems with the
materials presented.
